The feast of Saint Peter the Apostle falls on 22 February. Peter was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples and the first to recognise Jesus as the Christ (the Messiah). For this reason, Jesus declared that Peter would be the rock on which the Church would be built (the name Peter means ‘rock’). This assembly reveals how Saint Peter fulfilled his mission to love God and serve others, and how by following his example, children can share the love and message of Jesus too.
Saint Peter is also recognised – alongside his contemporary Paul – on 29 June, through the Solemnity of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Click here to access resources for this important feast in the Church year.
