Every year we produce an assembly focusing on one of the many overseas projects supported by Mission Together. Together in Cameroon focuses on Fr Leon, a Mill Hill Missionary, and the children of his remote parish. Through showing how Fr Leon and the children live out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, this assembly aims to deepen pupil’s understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and everyone’s valued place within God’s global family.
For several years, Missio/Mission Together have been supporting the work of Mill Hill Missionaries in North West Cameroon. This region has been sorely affected by a bitter conflict between the Government and armed Separatist groups, with education a chosen target for the Separatists. Teachers have been attacked, schools set ablaze, and students kidnapped.

Fr Leon has made security and support of children and young people in his region a priority. Working with his parish community, and with our help too, he’s established a successful church youth choir and a young adults farming project. Fr Leon also helped coordinate the construction of new rural classrooms to ensure children can continue attending school without risk of rebel attack.

Our Together in Cameroon assembly is accompanied by a short film (see below) containing footage from the various youth projects at work in Fr Leon’s Parish. The film is followed by optional CST Principle reflection questions, suggested activities, and CST Principle prayers.
