Over 1,500 children from primary schools in England and Wales have been gathering with their bishops to celebrate being ‘children helping children’ at Good Shepherd Liturgies held in Cardiff and Southwark Archdioceses and in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.
Schools that support Mission Together, the Pope’s official children’s charity for overseas mission, joined together in celebration to mark a year of prayer and sharing. Through scripture, reflections, song and dance, children shared faith with one another, demonstrated their talents and remembered that God’s love is for sharing with everyone-everywhere.
As part of Mission Together, children in the UK are helping to bring God’s love and hope for a better future to some of the poorest children in their world. They discover too, that in a wonderful exchange of friendship and prayer, children around the world share what little they have and are praying for children here, too.
Many congratulations to all pupils who attended the Liturgies and thanks for their joyful and enthusiastic participation. Thanks also to the staff at the schools and to the Diocesan Education Departments in Cardiff, Southwark and Arundel and Brighton for making these celebrations happen and for encouraging their pupils to be missionaries of God’s love.
