Information for Parents

If you’re here, it’s likely you’ve been asked by your child’s school to support Mission Together. So firstly, thank you! Still, you might be uncertain who we are and what we do. If so, we hope these pointers help.

Children helping children

Mission Together is the Catholic Church’s official children’s charity for overseas mission. It is the children’s branch of Missio.

We are part of a global Catholic organisation which helps children around the world follow the example of Jesus: praying and sharing to support all God’s children, everywhere, regardless of background or belief.

In 2019, Mission Together supported the purchase of a generator for Nazareth House, a home for children affected by HIV, South Africa

How we help overseas

Money raised through Mission Together funds children’s projects in 157 countries. In 2020 alone, children in England and Wales helped support 20,000 children overseas!

Sometimes the needs might be very specific: a new classroom, a minibus, or a feeding programme. Sometimes we help children’s spiritual development, for example by funding a children’s catechist.

How we help at home

Every child’s personal and spiritual development matters to us. So as well as supporting children’s projects overseas, Mission Together also creates free educational resources that support the mission and ethos of Catholic schools here at home.

Our classroom prayers, acts of worship, assemblies, and activities encourage children’s faith development and awareness of their place within God’s global family. All our resources complement Catholic RE programmes and make links with other curriculum topics.

During 2020, we adapted many of our resources for parents and grandparents to use at home with children during lockdown. These proved so popular, we’ve kept it up! Click here for our at-home activities. Click here for our prayer resources.
