Canada
Canada is a country in the continent of North America and is the second largest country in the world (Russia being the largest). But only 0.5% of the world’s population live there as the landscape is mostly rugged. In the north lies the frozen Arctic. To the south lies the border that separates Canada from the USA.
Over the years many people from around the world have migrated to Canada. They have each brought aspects of their culture to the country. The children in this film are part of a Mission Together club. One member wanted to tell you about being part of this club.
‘Hello, my name is Ashi, and I am 10 years old. I recently received my first communion and am part of my church Mission Together club. We meet each week to learn about Jesus and to share his message with others. We makes displays, act out Bible stories, pray the Mission Rosary, and plan activities to raise money to help children. I feel so good helping other children in the world because all children will be happy and that gives me joy.’
Listen now as the children sing a hymn in French, Canada’s second official language. Listen out for any words that sound familiar. Watch out too for the display of hearts behind the children. This helps us to see that no matter where we are in the world, we are all connected to one another through bonds of faith and love.
