Italy is a country in the continent of Europe. Italy is a peninsula (pen-in-su-la), meaning that it is mostly surrounded by sea. Rome is the capital city of Italy and in the past was the home of the Ancient Romans, whose empire stretched around the world!

Today Rome is home to the Pope, who leads the worldwide Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is like a huge global family, and as the Pope Francis reminds us, this makes us all brothers and sisters. Most Italians are Catholics and many Italian children support Mission Together. They pray and share to help their brothers and sisters around the world.

Listen to these two young girls as they say the ‘Glory Be’ prayer in Italian. Listen out for the Italian words for Father (Padre), Son (Figlio), and Holy Spirit (Spirito Santo).
